Yarn Squirrel keeps your patterns, your yarn and your projects in one place. There are five tabs along the bottom, and each one holds a different part of that.
Patterns
Everything you might make. It has four sections along the top:
- Library — patterns you own: synced from Ravelry, imported as PDFs, or saved from a link
- Favorites — patterns you’ve bookmarked but may not own yet
- Queue — what you’re planning to make next, from your Ravelry queue
- Search — all of Ravelry’s patterns, with filters for craft, category and more
A pattern can sit in both Library and Favorites at once — owning something and loving it aren’t the same thing.
Yarn
Your yarn, in four sections:
- Stash — what you actually have, with colourways, quantities and where you keep it
- Favorites — yarns you’ve favourited on Ravelry
- Search — Ravelry’s yarn database
- Palettes — colour combinations you’ve put together for a future project
Projects
What you’re making, or have made. Notes, photos, steps, the yarn and bits you used, and row counters that keep your place — including on the Lock Screen while you work.
Bits & Bobs
Everything that isn’t yarn or a pattern: safety eyes, buttons, stuffing, stitch markers, fasteners, and your hooks and needles. Supplies count down as you use them in projects; tools are just logged, since you don’t use up a hook.
More
Tools and settings. The Yarn Weight Converter translates between the international weight systems, and the Skein Calculator works out how much you need. Settings, your account and this help section live here too.
Tap any length anywhere in the app to flip between yards and metres. It’s easy to miss, and it works on every length Yarn Squirrel shows you.
