Common Questions

How do I connect my Ravelry account?

Open Yarn Squirrel, go to Settings, and tap Connect to Ravelry. You’ll be redirected to Ravelry to authorize the app. Once connected, your library, favorites, queue, and projects sync automatically.

How do I import a PDF pattern?

Tap the + button in your library and select Import PDF. Yarn Squirrel’s OCR engine automatically extracts the pattern name, designer, yarn requirements, and other details from the file.

Can I use Yarn Squirrel without a Ravelry account?

Yes. You can use Yarn Squirrel entirely offline by importing PDF patterns. Ravelry integration is optional.

How do I cancel my Premium subscription?

Subscriptions are managed through Apple. Go to Settings on your iPhone → tap your name → Subscriptions → Yarn Squirrel → Cancel Subscription.

Is my data backed up?

Your data is stored locally on your device. Ravelry data can always be re-synced by signing in again. For imported PDFs, we recommend keeping a copy of the original files.

Does Yarn Squirrel support cross-stitch?

Yes. Yarn Squirrel supports knitting, crochet, and cross-stitch patterns — all in one library.

Troubleshooting

Ravelry sync isn’t working

  1. Check your internet connection
  2. Go to Settings and try signing out and back in to Ravelry
  3. Make sure you’ve granted Yarn Squirrel permission on Ravelry

PDF import isn’t extracting details

OCR works best with clearly formatted PDFs. Scanned images or heavily designed layouts may extract less data. You can always edit the details manually after import.

The app feels slow or unresponsive

Try closing and reopening the app. If the issue persists, make sure you’re on the latest version from the App Store.
